April Fool's on you Momma!

I managed to not fall for my Mom's April Fool's Story. It was pretty good until she got to the part where she said she locked herself out of the house. She never locks up.
But I did fall for Jack's April Fool's Joke. He has been beginning to get the potty thing. Mostly because I think he sees the bigger kids working on it at School. Not because we spend countless hours sitting him on the potty at home. But he told me last night "I potty" so I took him up to the bathroom and he sat on the potty forever. Mostly he just likes to put toilet paper in the potty and flush it and say "Bye Bye Potty" However I was sitting on the floor in front of him and his aim was right on....right on his Momma! However he did manage to get some pee in the potty and was rewarded with some Sugar Free Gum. So he was pretty happy about that. I'm proud of him for making the connection. Considering he's not even two yet he's doing pretty good!
We also have been using cloth diapers for a month now. We cut our diaper budget in half for the month! :) I kept track of how many cloth ones I washed and I washed enough (109) to only have to buy one box instead of the two boxes of diapers I usually buy. I've only had to do two more loads of laundry a week. So thanks Sarah I'm glad I gave them a try. I think with baby two coming in a few months this will help us stay on budget.

Spring Things

It's been an interesting week off. I was looking forward to getting somethings done and spending some quality time with Jack. And it would have been a wonderful week but life is hard. On Monday I had the TV on while I made dinner and I heard that a Pine River student was hit by a bus. So I kept the TV on. When they finally got to the story I was in tears. Evan is a patient of mine. More like Evan's whole family are my patients. I had just cleaned his mom's teeth the week before and his little sister Anneka let us count her teeth for the first time ever! His mom, Melaine is a few years older than I am and she was one of my first patients four years ago when I started working. I've seen their family grow from one little two year old boy to three beautiful children. Evan looks alot like another little blond haired brown eyed boy I know. Evan's funeral was Friday. His Mom and sisters Anneka (3 1/2) and Maren (8 weeks) where at home waiting for him to get off the bus and witness his death. The family and the bus driver (72 years old had been driving school kids for 40 years) are having a hard time with Evan's death.
Life has been hard lately. I know God is Good. And I know Evan was brought up in a Christain home. "This is just a stop on the way to where I am going. I am not afraid because I know this is my temporary home." My heart aches for my friends and family who have suffered such losses this spring. While I am excited about our new little one and all of Jack's doings. I feel like God is reminding us about what is the most important.

Week Off

We are enjoying our week off. Yesterday we did the things we normally do on Fridays. We got the laundry done, went grocery shopping and managed to get Jack to take a big nap. We also managed to make cousin Issac a baby sling during nap time and work on our 2009 Taxes. Over all we had a pretty busy day. Every time I tried to sit down to work on the Taxes Jack would come over with a hockey stick and say to me, "Get Down, Hockey!" He had a one track mind...just like his Daddee. After shopping he tried to bring in a hockey stick from the garage. The only problem was it was a full size hockey stick and it was pretty hard to manage it in the house. I had to take it away from him which didn't make him very happy but he kept getting it stuck everywhere. He was very happy when his Daddee came home they spent a good hour out in the garage playing hockey and golf. And went for a bike ride as well. He is starting to put some sentence together. Last night Glenn was pretty impressed with Jack saying "I need a ball!"

Today we went and ran a few more errands and decided to have lunch at McDonalds. Which normally would be a good idea. Except for it's been a long time since I've taken Jack there and the one we went to had a playland. So he kept saying "get down" and wanted to go into the playland. He went down one little slide all by himself and did great. Then a big kid wanted to "help" him go twenty mintues later Jack had made it up to the big slide and had decided he was too scared to come down. I tried sending a bigger kid up there to push him down the slide. It didn't work. So I had to climb up the playland and bring Jack down. Playland's are made for kids and not pregant girls. We did manage to eat pretty good he had two of his cock o doodle doo nuggets.

And took a big nap which allowed me to spend two hours vaccuming the car out. It wouldn't have been sooo bad but it hasn't been done all winter. And at one point in time this winter Glenn decided we could Dog Sit for some friends. And Glenn went to go pick up the dogs with my car and no sheet to have the dogs sit on. So too white long haired dogs rode in my black carpeted car. GROSS! I had some major gagging issues b/c of all the hair and Glenn did a quarter job of cleaning it up this winter but I got all of the hair out of there. Also the pee stains that the little dog left in the back of my car as well.......moral of the story Don't Dog Sit for dogs that have to be inside and aren't potty trained and don't let your husband drive your car.

Spring Cleaning

Today has been a beautiful day. Even yesterday wasn't sooo bad a bit cold for a little boy but we have been outside all weekend. Today we managed to get the front flower beds cleaned out, took at least a 3 mile bike ride, and Jack got in some hockey practice in the garage. We are enjoy some much needed time off the next week. I only have to work one day and Glenn is only working two or three days. But after that it's time to crack down and start........GOLF SEASON! So we are going to enjoy a fun week! We have yet to tackle Jack's closet and figure out how we can add some organizers to fit two kids clothes in one very small closet. Maybe we will decide if we should paint his room a fun color. We talked about painting his room before he was born...just never had time to do it. We do have to fix some dents in the drywall from the rocking chair so a new paint job may be in order.

Sick of Winter, Sick of No Sleep, Sick of Being Sick

I'm thankful that we are halfway done with March. However Glenn and Jack are sad to see the hockey rink melt. But the warmer temps have allowed Jack to go out without gloves on and he can actually hit a puck on the remaining ice. He thought he was pretty cool.
We have been having a blah weekend. I had to work and extra day this week. The dentist I've worked for the last four years Dr. Johnson fell on some ice and has a core spinal injury, he was paralyzed from the neck down at first but is doing well and walking now. He will be out for the next few months at the least as he will have surgery and may never return to dentistry, although we are hopeful he will. Him being out of the office has made it quite a mess at work. My wonderful four day work weeks might get all messed up, but hopefully by the time I'm back from maternity leave the long term plan will be figured out.
Due to all the wonderful stress at work, worry about Dr. Johnson and Olivia...I can't sleep well and that leads to Jack getting him and I sick. A terrible cold, sinus pressure, burning ears, sore throat, can't breath, cough and crud. Boo! One more day to recover and back to the grind. At least I have a few days off after next week. But I am hoping to be better before than. I think I'm on my 6 quart of O.J. it's gotta start working soon :)

The Real Test...

The Real Test was taking Jack out and running errands with cloth diapers. We did great! We made it to Kohls, Wal-mart and Subway. We had to change some diapers but no big deal. Dad even changed one at Subway. I'm really wishing I would have given these a try earlier, but oh well. We still have two more years of diaper wearing in this house for sure! I'm not sure we are going to do cloth diapers every where we go...for example I don't think I want to sit through church with a stink bomb in my diaper bag. And it might confuse the nursery workers. But we have enough to get through a day and we are saving money everytime he wears one!
We also have been shoe shopping for less than $40 the last two weekends I've found Jack five pairs of shoes and three shirts for mom :) He got winter boots for next year, cowboy Buzzlightyear/Woody boots, Lightening McQueen Tennis shoes, Blue Slip on Shoes and some rugged man Hiking Boots for next fall! What a great deal to find some shoes on sale. He really wanted the Lightening McQueen one's last week...but they weren't on sale enough for his cheap mom to buy them for him...he got lucky though they were in the Clearance section this week so score for Jack!

Diaper Duty

We are in to our second day of cloth diapers...we have only been doing them at home. The second diaper ended up being a real dirty one but considering he has a cold bug and that diaper was about at gross as they come I was shocked at how quick it rinsed out. Right now I am washing them so we shall see how they clean up. So far I love the absorbency overnight you can add extra liners to the diaper and no leaks! I also love that his pants stay up. Because they are a bit bigger. So far, so good. Also when number two comes along these diapers are one size fits all because you adjust the size with snaps so I won't have to carry two different sizes of diapers in my bag...so that will be nice. The only thing is I think it will be a while before number two will be big enough to fit in these diapers. If number two is as small as Jack was. But overall I like them so far. And Jack thinks he has big boy pants so he's happy too :)
