Two Years Old....Already?

I can't believe it my little Jack-Jack is going to be two on Thursday. He sure is a fun little guy. Yesterday morning he walking into my room with the rubber ring from his potty chair on his chair. His only explanation, "Cowboy!" After going to see Toy Story 3 at the Movies before Emma was born. Jack has some new favorite characters. He is still in love with Cars and Lightening McQueen. But he loves Buzz and Woody.
He also has been getting very creative during nap time. I usually put him in his bed, turn the radio to sleep and read him a book. I then tell him to take a nap and walk out and shut the door. Since he has figured out how to open doors we had to put a special child proof door knob thing on that he isn't suppose to be able to open the door....however he still has escaped. But for the most part it works. However every day he manages to put his Red Wings jersey on before he passes out in some random spot (never in his bed) It's kinda like where's waldo...especially with the Red Jersey.
He has been a goofy dresser lately....pants optional. Cloth diapers a must. Buzz Diapers as they are called. Heaven forbid I try to put a regular one on him unless we are going somewhere...funny he knows how my system works. And Buzz Light-year Shirt better be clean!

Sweet Baby Girl

We were only completely shocked when the Doctor said "It's a girl!" Little Emma Rae Hagberg finally made her debut July 1, 2010. She was 7 lbs 10 ozs, 19 1/2 inches.
She has been a great little sister to big brother Jack. He adores her. He spends a lot of his time delegating who can "hold the baby" most he delegates himself. He has done a few brotherly things like stealing her nah-knee "pacifiers", crawling into her bassinet with her, and driving a monster truck on her head. But over all he is doing a great job at being gentle to his new Sissy.
Emma is a great baby. I can not believe how well rested I have felt the last week. She sleeps at least one four hour stretch each night. Well...right now she mostly sleeps. I have to wake her up during the day to get her to eat. Otherwise she is pretty content. She doesn't like cold wet wipes and loves to be swaddled up nice and tight. She is Jack's opposite for sure. Hopefully in the next few weeks she will become more and more alert each day so that we can get pictures in all of her cute little outfits before she outgrows them.

Jack seems to have grown two months worth in the last week. I swear he's even put on weight...but that could be all the "chocolate rabbit" aka milk he's being chugging down since Grandpa and Grandma were here. His vocabulary has also improved. He didn't have to say much because Momma had all his little words figured out but must be that he had to talk when different people where watching him and now that he's got it down there is no sense in stopping. At least he is using his pleases and thank yous so that makes Momma proud. He has also been a good helper around the house. This afternoon we are going to Kathy's house to see the cows and flowers and spend some time enjoying the beautiful summer weather. It should be lots of fun.

It's the Final Count Down.........

In less than a month we will have two kiddies. I find myself wondering what we're we thinking. Or more likely what I was I thinking. Two of them...in the summer when Glenn hasn't taken a day off in over a month and a half? Ahhhhhh.....
I feel the need for a vacation already :)

Oh well...I will survive. I may not sleep for the next few months but some how we will get through. We have to do part-time at daycare to keep our spots for the fall so at least two days a week I can send Jack to play with his big kid friends. Which will be good for him and good for Momma! And I think we just may have to recruit Hannah for a road trip to Michigan for a week sometime in Late July or Early August. That way we can show off our new little one and Jack's growing vocabulary!

I've been busy this weekend getting ready for the final count down. We washed baby blankets, baby clothes and bought some newborn diapers. And packed a hospital bag. I don't except this baby to come this early but we have company the next two weekends so by the time I have time to do those things baby will be here. We still have quite a few things to do but I'm sure we won't be as ready as we were with Jack. But you just don't have as much time to get ready the second time around. Good thing Jen is coming next weekend so I can pick her brain on ideas for a sleeping situation. Jack's been going through a routine of not wanting to take a nap. And the only place I can corral him is the pack n play. Which was my bassinet when he was little...so we can't have two kids sleeping in one bed. So we will need to make a decision on buying a second pack n play or something. Ahhh and boy wonder is awake! Time for a snacker!

Old MacDonald Had a Farm

Here's a sheep picture from when Jack went to visit at Kathy and Marlin's farm. He sure loves animals. I think he will have a lot of fun at Grandma Mary's farm this summer.

It's been a busy-sleepless last week with Jack getting bronchial pneumonia and a double ear infection. It probably started last week but Mr. Happy Jack who never complained and slept through the night the whole time. Was a very sick little boy by the time his symptoms reached a head. We had a visit to the ER clinic and came home with a fancy smoke blowing machine (aka the Nebulizer) Which has helped him breathe much better but has also been a fight every four hours when he has to wear a mask and inhale steam for 20 mins. Anyone want to try to get a two year old to sit still and wear a mask for 20 mins? I feel like I already have a newborn since I am back to the no-sleep routinee. Jack sounds better but his breathing does get pretty raspy towards the end of his four hours.

We did have a few good notes to our week...our driveway is finally paved! It has been a long process. But it looks wonderful and hopefully less dirt to sweep up for me! Jack offically welcome the pavement by coloring it with chalk and riding his motorcycle to the end and back.

We also had the our good friends Kathy (who I work with) and Marlin bring us some black dirt from the farm. So that we could fill in the edges and new flower bed. Jack wasn't afraid to hop up in Marlin's big truck and unload the dirt. He grabbed his little shovel and was flinging it out the back of the truck like a real man. He did fling some dirt in our hair too...which he thought was funny. He really loves Marlin. He follows and copies everything he does. He also lays on the ground and cries when Marlin leaves. Nice to have such fun friends. Kathy and Marlin's daughter is a year older than I am. She is married and lives in London...so Kathy and I have kinda of adopted each other. I am so thankful for her.

Last night we (Jack and I) went to a barn dance wedding reception for Dr. Johnson's son O.J. They had a pile of toy tractors to play with so as you can imagine Jack didn't want to leave. In fact we stayed until almost 9:00 and he bawled the whole way home. That could have something to do with the fact that he couldn't bring the tractors home with him and he had to leave Marlin.

Jack also had a fun time showing off his new snake named "Snakes" that managed to wiggle into our cart at Target earlier in the day. "Snakes" played with Jack all afternoon, took a bath and slept with Jack. I hate snakes...but someone loves them.

Today we are having another busy day heading to a Graduation Party for Logan. He's a third (maybe second) cousin of Glenn's who lives in Pequot Lakes. Then I think a big nap is in order...thankgoodness it's a four day weekend. I need some extra rest. Hopefully I can get some.

Xylophone

It may be one of the weirdest music instruments I know...but when Jack says Xylophone you just have to laugh. He is getting so good at talking. This little boy in the last month has learned all his colors. His favorite to say is orange. He points out orange things at the store. He also is learning to count. The other night I was making him some play-doh snakes and he goes "four snakes" I was not really paying attention but when I looked down I had made him four snakes. And he was counting them! What a big kid.
He has gone in the last month from calling Chocolate Milk, "Rabbit" (Nesquick Rabbit) to now calling it Chocolate. He still will not say milk. This morning we were working on Octopus. He loves Sharks, Alligators, Snakes, Frogs....hmmm maybe he is a boy!
He also has been a great helper outside. He has his own little rake and shovel. Mostly he loves to rake. But he did help me plant a flat of flowers. I still have some more to plant tomorrow if it is nice. He also discovered the sprinkler and was purple a few times last week. We had to go buy him some sandals since he did not have any...and all his shoes were wet.
We went on a field trip on Friday to see some baby lambs, chickens and ducks. I will have to post those pictures. He loved the farm. We had my co-worker Kathy watch him so we could go out to eat for our anniversary two weeks ago and this week we went to her moms, he got to feed cows and go on a tractor ride. It would have been more fun with Gpa Scott...but sometimes you have to make do. He did climb out of the tractor and lay on the ground and cry because the ride was over. He also cried all the way home. So I guess Jack loves the farm.
Only 6 more weeks until baby number two comes...we cleaned and organized today. I still have a lot left to do to get ready. But I have been so tired that I might just wash up some t-shirts, get some diapers for newborns and get a bed ready. Everything else will have to wait for more energy. Its too beautful this week to be inside.

Shopping Buddy!

This weekend we celebrated our five year anniversary...how appropriate that our hot water heater would decide to leak all over the basement. We did manage to get it fixed and not have to buy a new one yet...but it got me to thinking that maybe I should get out of the house and go shopping with my little buddy this weekend. Since we probably won't be doing any fun shopping for a while here. So we went to St. Cloud and had a great time. We ran into our buddies Kari and Carter and had lunch with them. We had fabulous coupons and Jack fell asleep in his stroller at the mall. He slept for two hours. I think that was a God thing. It allowed me some ME time and I was able to find some great deals, try on clothes and not have to keep him entertained. I do have to admit to not flushing when we went to the bathroom....but I didn't want to wake him up.
Baby Number Two will be here before we know it. My due date is about 7 weeks away. I have a feeling if I continue to work full time that Baby may come a few days early. It has been a very stressful last two months since Dr. Johnson fell. We've been super busy at work and I spend a lot of time running/playing catch up to stay on schedule. Our fill in dentists are nice guys but they are not used to keeping up with such a full schedule of patients. So I've been heading to work tired because I can't sleep and coming home more tired because I've ran a marathon all day at work. I am so thankful that Maternity Leave is right around the corner. I don't care if the baby wakes up every two hours...I love my job but I want my old boss back :)

April Fool's on you Momma!

I managed to not fall for my Mom's April Fool's Story. It was pretty good until she got to the part where she said she locked herself out of the house. She never locks up.
But I did fall for Jack's April Fool's Joke. He has been beginning to get the potty thing. Mostly because I think he sees the bigger kids working on it at School. Not because we spend countless hours sitting him on the potty at home. But he told me last night "I potty" so I took him up to the bathroom and he sat on the potty forever. Mostly he just likes to put toilet paper in the potty and flush it and say "Bye Bye Potty" However I was sitting on the floor in front of him and his aim was right on....right on his Momma! However he did manage to get some pee in the potty and was rewarded with some Sugar Free Gum. So he was pretty happy about that. I'm proud of him for making the connection. Considering he's not even two yet he's doing pretty good!
We also have been using cloth diapers for a month now. We cut our diaper budget in half for the month! :) I kept track of how many cloth ones I washed and I washed enough (109) to only have to buy one box instead of the two boxes of diapers I usually buy. I've only had to do two more loads of laundry a week. So thanks Sarah I'm glad I gave them a try. I think with baby two coming in a few months this will help us stay on budget.
