Beach Baby

Yesterday Jack took his first trip to the beach. Although he did even get his toes wet he sleep in the shade while Aunt Hannah worked on her tan. Uncle Dan arrived this morning for a visit so maybe Jack will get to go for a ride in the new Subaru. But after going through two sets of pjs last night he might not be allowed.

One Week Birthday!

Jack made it to his one week Birthday! He celebrated by going on his first golf outing with Dad and Aunt Hannah on the social nine. Even though he slept most of the way he did enjoy his walk in his baby bjorn front carrier...which was a salvation army find, probably the best 4 dollars I've spent in a long time. He has been quite a character these last couple days. He survived the many trips back and forth to Brainerd to pick up a few more things and do some shopping with Aunt Hannah. He also made it up to Mom's work to meet everyone up there. 98% of the time Jack is very smiley or sleepy, but then there is the 2% of the time when Jack is not happy. And when Jack isn't happy; no one is happy. Last night I guess he didn't want to leave the driving range, because as soon as we got home Kicking and Screaming started. And continued so much that we decided to watch that movie in honor of his behavior, thankfully he fell asleep during the movie. So did everyone else, too. Hopefully today will be a little more low key.

First Trip to Church

Today Jack went to church for the first time. He wore his cute little golfer outfit complete with argyle socks. He enjoyed the loud music but decided that he wasn't going to sing today, which was ok with mom and dad. He also sat real quite during the sermon, such a good boy. He got to meet some of his mom and dad's friends, the pastor and Chloe. She was born the day before Jack and was across the hallway from us at the hospital. She out weighs Jack, she was born at 9 lbs 9 oz and her mom is not any bigger than I am.

He also decided that he wasn't too happy that his dad lost at cards after church, so he let him know by soaking his lap. He also felt the need to soak the wall above his changing table. Needless to say the wash machine is getting a lot of use this week.

He's Home

Baby Jack joined our family on Tuesday July 22, 2008 at 12:34 pm. He weighed in at 6 lbs 15 oz and 19 inches long. I was in labor for 13 hours and he cooperated pretty well. His first visitor arrived about 45 mintues after his birth, his Aunt Sarah Dawdy (Glenn's mom's cousin-our apdotive mom around Brainerd) just happened to be a few blocks away when we called her so she stopped by and brought Glenn some lunch. We had many friends and family who also visited Jack.
Baby Jack made it home yesterday. Spike wasn't too sure about the whole ordeal and we will just have to keep an eye on him. He is thinking Jack should be ready to play and is very interested in him when he starts to cry. Jack is doing well, he needed to work on eating a little more and last night he did a great job 4 dirty diapers! Today he is relaxing with his Grandpa Scott, Grandma Mary, Aunt Hannah and Aunt Emily we might go find something to do this afternoon when Daddy gets done with work. Thanks to everyone for all your prayers.

Last Day of Work

Today was my last day of work...and as much as I am really excited to be done being preggo...I really love my job, co-workers and my patients. I am going to miss them for the next two months. I was given tons of advice all day long and the girls I work with were in tears when I left at the end of the day. And the funny thing is I'm not dying, in fact depending on when Baby H decides to make his or her debute I may even be up visiting them next week. I guess having a great work environment and co-workers who are like second mothers are one of the many blessings I have.
For those of you who are wondering this is as big as it gets.... Most of my patients this week thought I was kidding when I told them I was due next week. I am sure glad I was able to feel good enough to keep working, it made the time go by really fast. I have been lucky to feel good not that this kid has permission to ride around for the next month, the eviction notice has been sent and will be served soon! We will let you know...

Weathering the Storms

Welcome to Minnesota....

Home of
Man Eatting Misquitos
Blood Sucking Ticks
and Lately Tree Smashing Storms.

Last night we had some pretty scary weather. Glenn and I had planned to play golf but when I got over to the golf course the weather had other plans....

It had been such a nice day. I got up early and went strawberry picking with Kathy my adoptive mother from work. It was even nice and cool, after picking a few pails I came home mowed the lawn and started making freezer jam. And that is when the trouble began. It got really warm and really humid. We reached 90 for the first time this summer. The storms blew though at 6:30 last night. We had decided after looking at the radar at the golf course that we should just head home. I wish we would have video taped the winds. We had 80 mph stright lines, AGAIN. We are very fortunate that we only lost one small tree. I haven't left the house yet this morning but I am courous to see what damage was done around the lake in our neighborhood. After the storm we took Spike for a walk to try to see the damage but there was a police baricade blocking the road off. There were a number of emergency vechiles and firetrucks that came flying past our house during the storm. Most of the houses in our neighborhood are located on Round Lake and when the wind comes across the lake trees start snapping. Last August our neighborhood had some major damage after a similar storm.
We also lost of power for a few hours so we used our portable grill to cook up some dinner and decided we better eat the fudge bars (well Glenn decided and I joined in after he had three) in the freezer so they wouldn't make a mess.

Other then an exciting storm it has been a pretty easy week. I worked this week and next week will be my last week of work as long as the baby decides to stay where it's at. I was kinda wondering last night after all the craziness and huge change in the weather if it would decide it wanted out. I guess not.

4th of July

Happy Fourth! Things are pretty quiet around here. Glenn is having a busy day at the golf course since the weather decided to be below 80 everyone will be hitting the links and not the lakes. I went to the doctor yesterday and nothing really exciting just have to report back next week to see if anything has changed.

We had a pretty exciting night last night. We went over to our friends Kari and Jeremy's and had a barbecue with as many dogs as we had people. Spike had fun playing with his friends Ernie (Craig, Sarah and baby Copper's Jack Russell Mix) and Bailey (Cocker Sp.) plus two stray dogs from their neighborhood decided to join in the fun. Bailey is Kari and Jeremy's dog and her house is surrounded in POISON IVY and DEER TICKS. My most favorite things in the world. We decontaminated ourselves with dish soap when we got home last night but with five dogs running through that stuff and running into you....I really hope I don't break out. Spike got decontaminated much to his disliking at 6:30 this morning when he decided he wanted out of his crate. Now I have to wash everything towels, sheets, clothes and dog beds to make sure we got rid of it all. I think Spike may even get a new collar out of this. It is a bummer to have to be so allergic to this stuff. But hopefully being over careful with prevent me from getting poison ivy because I really don't think the doctor would give me the good medicine that actually works at this point.

Later we are going to watch the fireworks in Brainerd. We've only watched them at Madden's the past three summers so this will be a change and much more crowded. They light them off at the high school and I can't remember but about 30,000 or more come to watch them.

I believe it with how bad the traffic was around here yesterday. This is a weird town. It's a ghost town all winter and then come the day before a summer holiday forget going anywhere that would normally take you 15 mins in less than an hour. The north bound traffic was horrible. Plus when I went to the grocery the store clerk was waiting for my credit card to go through and this older lady from "the cities" (obviously because she was in such a rush) comes flying up behind with her cart starts throwing her items on the belt and says to the clerk, "ok, are we done here?" and the clerk looks at her (as most people from brainerd would) with a very annoyed look and said "no, we are waiting for the credit card to process as you can see it's very busy here today." I couldn't help but laugh. After all that was about the most crowded I've ever seen Cub Foods and I watched one guy as he made his rounds through the aisles RAM his cart literally into seven different people's carts, including an old lady. These cit-idots as I have often heard them called really have one mission in life get to their cabin on the lake as quickly as possible and you better not be standing in their way. Good thing we all don't live like that.
