Our fall colors are in their prime, we have beautiful views of bright oranges and yellows out every window. Glenn is closing down The Classic today and by the end of the month the resort will be closed as well. The crew at The Classic have a lot of work to do this fall and winter to get the course back into shape. There are about three hundred plus dead trees to cut down, they were killed by a beetle that bores into the trees and eats the membrane between the bark and the tree. It is sad to see all the trees have to be cut down. But we will be awaiting spring and looking forward to see what gets planted back.
Jack has had a wild weekend. On Friday night he decided to take after cousin Abby and have a party for a few hours in the early morning. After two hours and trying every toy and trick I could think of, his baby Einstein musical mirror (for using in the car) got him to sleep with its fancy disco lights. I guess he couldn't have his party with out music and lights.
Saturday night we got to go to a dinner with a missionary from Honduras. Glenn went on a trip two springs ago to an orphanage and the missionary was here in town for our church's missions dinner that was on Friday night. It was neat to sit down with him in a smaller setting and get to hear his vision for the future. He works with street kids who he rescues from drug addiction and often from child prostitution. He is also involved in a dump ministry, Honduras is so poor that many of its people go everyday to a huge dump to pick through the trash looking for things to recycle. These people are so poor they use paint thinner carried around in baby jars or pop bottles as a drug to numb their hunger pains. Glenn got to visit this dump while on his trip. He saw the people digging through the trash with vulutres circling over head, stray dogs fighting people for scraps of food and babies laying in boxes. I am excited to hear about the work Senor Pinto is doing in that area but saddened by the world we live in.
