Falling For Fall

Our fall colors are in their prime, we have beautiful views of bright oranges and yellows out every window. Glenn is closing down The Classic today and by the end of the month the resort will be closed as well. The crew at The Classic have a lot of work to do this fall and winter to get the course back into shape. There are about three hundred plus dead trees to cut down, they were killed by a beetle that bores into the trees and eats the membrane between the bark and the tree. It is sad to see all the trees have to be cut down. But we will be awaiting spring and looking forward to see what gets planted back.

Jack has had a wild weekend. On Friday night he decided to take after cousin Abby and have a party for a few hours in the early morning. After two hours and trying every toy and trick I could think of, his baby Einstein musical mirror (for using in the car) got him to sleep with its fancy disco lights. I guess he couldn't have his party with out music and lights.

Saturday night we got to go to a dinner with a missionary from Honduras. Glenn went on a trip two springs ago to an orphanage and the missionary was here in town for our church's missions dinner that was on Friday night. It was neat to sit down with him in a smaller setting and get to hear his vision for the future. He works with street kids who he rescues from drug addiction and often from child prostitution. He is also involved in a dump ministry, Honduras is so poor that many of its people go everyday to a huge dump to pick through the trash looking for things to recycle. These people are so poor they use paint thinner carried around in baby jars or pop bottles as a drug to numb their hunger pains. Glenn got to visit this dump while on his trip. He saw the people digging through the trash with vulutres circling over head, stray dogs fighting people for scraps of food and babies laying in boxes. I am excited to hear about the work Senor Pinto is doing in that area but saddened by the world we live in.

Jumping Jacks

Jack has been working out...he's got a lot of girls to impress in his class. He also has school pictures if you can believe that on Thursday. We had a pretty busy weekend and are already back to work for the week. Jack got out of school a bit early today to spend some time with his dad. Tonight Glenn is trying to brain wash him into liking the Vikes...

Here are some pictures from the last week..........I don't have time to keep up everyday anymore.

Two Months Old.....already!

I can't believe it, he's two months old! The time has sure gone fast. We have had a pretty busy last week and a half. We both managed to catch a cold our first week back to work and daycare. It started out with a sore throat so listening to Jack attempting to cry was pretty sad. We got sick last Friday and we are still draining out the rest of our coughs. We did however have another good week and we are back to a very busy schedule now. We have a bible study going on Wenesday nights and watch The Office with friends on Thrusday nights.
Yesterday he offically got his two month shots. He hardly whimpered. But he did get fussy later in the day so I gave him some tylenol. We have been learning alot about tylenol the last week. Glenn stayed home and watch Jack on Monday morning and all day on Tuesday. Jack needed some tylenol on Monday because he still had a slight fever from his cold. Glenn's comment about giving it to him was why don't we give him some at night so he sleeps better. I told him that Jack needed to learn to sleep without drugs. On Thrusday night we (the parents) needed some tylenol our fun night we had antipatied all summer the premerie of The Office turned into a screamfest. We went over to our friends who were babysitting Cooper (Jack's 6 month old buddy) and Cooper had just had his shots the day before. Cooper was not happy to be without his mom and his poor leg was hurting him. He had a big welt because the nurse slipped with the needle. We ended up having to watch The Office after it aired, good thing we taped it. Because Cooper got Jack screaming and we couldn't get either one to calm down. Ahhh the joys! Adding babies to our group of friends has been interesting and we have one more on the way in February.
Today we are headed to a wedding at Itasca State Park, also known as the Head waters of the Mississippi River. The leaves are beautiful so we should have some wonderful pictures and I am excited for our friends to get married and excited to go to a new state park!

First Week of "School"

Jack survived the first week of daycare. I am so thankful for this daycare center. With all the hoops I had to jump and tests I had to pass to get my license to clean and wait a year and half after college to get my first real job...which I happen to love. I am glad I am able to have a place for Jack to go that we feel really good about. And this week I had a patient tell me he had the best cleaning he's had in his life. And that was coming from a guy who hadn't been to the dentist in years and who doesn't brush his teeth, seriously. Which is good because he had some serious gum problems and I need him to like me so he'll come back. And hopefully someday learn to brush and floss. Maybe that was just God telling me it's ok to be back at work because his compliment was extactly the boost I needed.

And Jack has done great at daycare. He has some adjusting to do because he is more of a tummy sleeper and because of sids the daycare wants him to sleep on his back. So his first day was rough he came home and pasted out. He is working on sleeping on his back and they are allowing him to sleep in a bouncy seat which is a help too. Today when I picked him up Grandma Laura (his teacher) was holding him and he was smiling away at her. So for his first week I think we did pretty good.

But we are sure saying TGIT (thank goodness it's thrusday) We are going to enjoy a nice weekend and might even go to a slumber party Movie Night tomorrow night with our friends from chruch.

Ready or Not....Here I come!

Well dispite an electrically short start to our Sunday, Jack and I were able to make it to church today. We were also using this morning as a practice run for getting ready on our own. We did pretty good. We got up an hour and a half before we needed to leave. I got a shower and got ready after feeding Jack and he actually went back to sleep. That is key! The only short circut in the getting ready process was that when I went to get him up...the lights popped. (We are working on getting that fixed thanks to Uncle Ron) So dispite our best efforts we were still a few mintues late to church. But not bad considering we didnt' have lights for the second half of getting ready. Hopefully tomorrow goes well. I will have to sing "It's the most wonderful time of the year." And take his first day of school pictures!
